Issues About the "The Da Vinci Code"
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:43:48 am »
Fellow spies, did you know that Dan Brown is not the real author of "The Da Vinci Code"...please check this out:

British Court Battle Over 'The Da Vinci Code'
Agence France Presse

London - The author of the blockbuster novel "The Da Vinci Code" faces an English High Courth challenge today from two men who claim he stole their ideas.

Michael Baigent and Richar Leigh are suing their own publishers, Random House, claiming Dan Brown's book draws heavily on their 1982 bestseller "Holy Blood, Holy Grail".

Brown's 2003 book has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and earned the American ?45 million in one year, instantly making the writer one of the world's richest.

A third author, Henry Lincoln, is not part of the lawsuit.

Brown's book, which combines triller, detective and canspiracy theory genres, expolores similar themes about the Vatican covering up the true story of Jesus.

The novel has been translated into 44 languages and drawn criticism from the Roman Catholic Church and historians.

If Baigent and Leigh are successful and obtain injunctions preventing the use of their material it could threaten the British relase of the film adaptation of "The Da Vinci Code".

The case is expected to last up to two weeks, barring settlement. It is also likely to clarify the extent to which an author can use other people's research under existing copyright laws.

yup, di lang yung authors ng holy blood, holy grail ang asar kay brown. pati rin yung authors ng the knight templar (im not really sure about the title) are claiming that they were the first one who said that the real "grail" was in fact mary magdalene.

I have read both books, The Da Vinci Code and Holy BLood Holy Grail.  The authors of Holy Blood Holy Grail researched on the premise that MAry Magdalene had a child with Jesus and was in fact the Holy Grail. THe authors also claim that MAry Magdalene fled to France after JEsus' death and gave birth there. This so called daughter of Christ was said to have married and became the root of the French monarchy. The Merovingian family trace their bloodline to this child of Mary Magdalene and claim to be descendants of Jesus Christ.

Da Vinci Code in paperback costs about 350 Php. Yung Holy Blood Holy Grail I have no idea. SA dad ko pa kasi yun e.

One more thing, read Cracking the Da Vinci Code by Simon Cox. It is a guide to the facts behind Da Vinci Code. It discusses what is factual and what is fictitious in DA Vinci Code.
