Is this legal? Pop up from PLDT DSL Provider
« on: March 07, 2015, 07:25:23 am »

nang mapuna ko kung ano yung pop up it came from PLDT. at first akala ko baka malware kasi its saying may outstanding balance daw ako.

then pagclick ko, nagulat ako na nakaspecify yung account number ko with PLDT, plus yung amount na hindi ko pa raw nababayaran as of Feb 14.

obviously its computer generated kasi its already March 7, almost 1 month na ang lumipas. Sana man lang check their records kasi bayad na.

But that's not what irritated me the most, feeling ko may violation somewhere. Like, privacy perhaps.

unang una ipanadadala nila yung bill thru courier.

=====
Anyway, wake up call na rin na para bang sinasabi nilang "we're monitoring you, bawas bawasan mo na ang porn."

Lesson of the day: read the terms and conditions carefully before agreeing to any service (or at least pag may reklamo ka). I know lahat naman guilty sa pag-agree-agree nang hindi nababasa/naiintindihan mabuti, but the consequence is that you're essentially giving them permission to do things that you may object to. Chances are their legal department would have taken steps to make sure they are either shielded from liability or that you have waived your rights.

Acceptable Use Policy – In PLDT’s efforts to promote good citizenship within the Internet community, PLDT will respond appropriately in the event that it becomes aware of any inappropriate use of the service. PLDT reserves the right to monitor bandwidth, usage and content, and from time to time to operate the service to identify violations of the Acceptable Use Policy or any inappropriate use of the service and/or to protect the PLDT network and other PLDT subscribers.
...
Billing - PLDT shall forward to the Subscriber a monthly billing for the use of the pertinent PLDT Service. Notwithstanding the non-delivery or late delivery of the pertinent PLDT bill, it shall be the responsibility of the Subscriber to inquire about his outstanding Total Charges by calling the PLDT hotline at telephone number 171 and pay the outstanding Total Charges, without need of further demand, on or before the due date thereof.

hindi rin naman tama ito, by law, required silang magpadala ng disconnection notice. just like meralco, meron silang disconnection notice bago nila putulin ang service.

and kung responsibility nga ng subscriber na alamin ang balance, naviolate nila yung kontrata by sending pop ups about sa billing.

so bakit kailangan pa nilang magpadala ng pop up?

Here's the whole picture, sa kapatid ko yung subscription.

pamamahiya yung ginawa nilang iyon.

1) Na-disconnect ba yung connection mo without notice?
2) Did you read anywhere in your contract na 'paper bill' ang ipapadala nila? Or is that your own assumption? Unless you've read somewhere in your contract na bills will *only* be sent via hardcopy/paper bills. It doesn't violate your contract.
3) Pag sinabing '...without the need of...", hindi ibig sabihin na hindi na nila pwedeng gawin.

Anyway, I'm not from PLDT. What I'm saying is that  I haven't seen/you haven't shown anything illegal. You can complain to their Customer Service, but I doubt that will make any difference. You can also switch providers, though the others will likely be employing similar methods.

On a personal note, kung ang concern mo e 'pamamahiya', missed bill for 1 month is no biggie. It happens every now and then even to those who are well off. It kinda speaks more about personal insecurities than shaming.

similar methods? in laws ko they are using globe dsl at wala silang naexperience na nagpapadala ng pop up notification from globe.

nyahahhahahahahha

wala naman naka-sulat na in paper yung bill sabi nila they will forward it walang sinabing medium kung papaano

O:T

Haha! As if naman walang karapatan mag reklamo ang isang customer.

Tignan mo na lang reply nitong si soundwav0, panalo sa ka!@#$$%!.

Ang concern ng TS ay security at privacy nya, not much between him and pldt, but more on other people seeing the notification/pop-up when they are not the intended recipients.

check your extensions sa settings ng browser. baka merong extensions na naka activate kaya naggaganyan. try to disable them or better remove.

sadya sila nang aasak para bayaran on time or minsan kahit ontime ka maypop up pa rin. gusto ata nila before pa magdue ng husto...
