President Jose "Pepe" Mujica, of Uruguay is also known as the world's poorest president. Mujica was labeled "poorest president" because his personal asset is only a Volkswagen Beetle, that cost $1,800. Mujica also donates 90% of his salary to charity which means his salary is within the average Uruguayan income  of $775/month .

President Mujica declined to live in the presidential palace instead Pepe lives in a small farmhouse owned by his wife, where they cultivate  chrysanthemums that they sell.

During a live interview a homeless man asked for a spare coin but instead Mujica gave him 100 peso.

“Give me a coin of yours, Pepe,” the man said.

“Look, brother,” said the president, “I don’t have a coin but don’t cry”. Mujica handed over a 100 peso bill.

“I want you to be President all your life.” the man suprisingly said

“No, no… please,” the president replied.
