I do not know mr. De veyra thus I am really confused about the motive of his open letter, he may be a douche for all i know, but the point of argument is not about mr. de veyra or bossing vic sotto. It is about the quality of bossing's movies. Yes, bossing is already a legend in his own way. I am also a fan of his masa appeal. But let us forget who authored the open letter for a moment and think of it this way. Metro Manila Film Festival should have been the battle of the best of the best movies showcasing good quality plot, special effects, actors, actress, directors, etc.

Pero with their resources, they can make a movie worth watching. It does'nt mean na porket pambata ok ng walang kwentang kwento.

what do you mean na sobrang yaman nila

the only person i know na mayaman talaga e si Kris Aquino lang hindi si ryza or vic sotto

1. amusement tax 50 percent ata

my point is the open letter is just an opinion and l have noticed na subra na nga yung advertisement sa Movie industry. Nawawala na yung spirit of entertainment.

The good tagalog ones are the documentary and indi types which are not really shown on theatres. I hate it when MMFF comes, inuubos nila ung sinehan ang ganda naman sana ng panahon para makapag bonding with films that are really worth it.

some of you guys are missing the point. metro manila FILM FESTIVAL, we should expect top of the line, best of the best quality movies. wag nyong tingnan ang marketing strategy kundi magiging metro manila marketing festival na lang. sure, if it's an everyday film it would be an OK film. pero hindi pwedeng "pwede na yan" kung ito ay isang film festival, yan ang point ni lourd. basa basa ulit pag may time.

He makes it seem like product placement is something new in the movie industry and he takes major offense in it. Those products paid in part to be in that movie therefore funding the movie which gives them the right to advertise their products, just like Lourd having the right to criticize the film since he paid to see it. Man of Steel comes to mind with blatant product placement throughout the movie, but it was still enjoyable for me.

He argues that Vic Sotto has not been in a "canon ng pinoy cinema", but wasn't comedy/romance, together with action movies, the "canon of pinoy cinema" before (the height of TVJ and FPJ fame)? If he wants Vic Sotto in a more meaningful role I think there are other ways, better ways, to say it rather than call him out for making a movie like My Little Bossings.

As for the Film Fest I would hold those who approve the entries more liable for the quality of movies that passes the MMFF standard than those who make the movies themselves.

If that's the case, then M. de Veyra seems to have unfairly singled out Vic Sotto. He should've also taken E.R. Ejercito to task for playing yet another hoodlum in his Metro Manila Film Festival entry for this year.

May naisip akong theory:

"the quality of mainstream movies/T.V Shows reflects the quality of the people watching it"

Nope.

E ano nauna, itlog or manok? Hehe...

I'll give Lourd some cred for being a Carlos Palanca awardee multiple times. Pero I'm with bossing Vic here kasi he's already paid his dues. So kung target nya this year e max profit, I'd give him some leeway.

As @BlueAlphaZero said why single out Vic Sotto? Why does the responsibility of making a higher standard movie fall on Vic's shoulders only? What is the "canon of pinoy cinema"? If you are upset at his entry My Little Bossings getting into the MMFF then why not blame those who decide which films are entered?

I respect Lourd as an artist so I wonder what would he feel when someone says something like this to him, "I respect your previous albums but you should do something different for your next album so I might enjoy it better."

I'm thinking more along the lines of what his reaction would be if someone told him: "When are you going to stop trying to be a pseudo-intellectual novelty band and make something more serious?"

“Ako naman, I’m open to all criticisms, lalo na kung constructive.

“Eto yung tinatawag nating demokrasya.
