does make sense. It would also work as the reason why they prefer long-sleeved shirts.
That reminds me: I once heard that black gang members wear their pants below the waist because it's a sign that they've been in prison; hence, it's a badge of honor - however dubious an honor it might be. And the reason they wear their pants low in prison is because inmates don't have belts (
to prevent suicides).
Or because it allows the bigger, meaner convicts to, ah, get to them easier (
if you take my meaning).
