RE: WIMAX, is it bound to one area?
« on: December 11, 2013, 09:28:33 pm »
Naka Wimax ako ngayon, talaga bang bound sa isang base station lang yung pwede nya gamiting signal? I mean, hindi sya portable? lumilipat lipat kasi ako ng lugar,  ok naman yung wimax signal so far, pero just this week, hindi na sya makasagap ng connection, lagi na lang searching , pero pag bumabalik ako sa area ko dati kung san nakalagay yung mailing address ng account ko, ok naman yung connection..

Sana may makasagot / makatulong sa kin,

 ::thanksforhelp

WiMax isnt GSM, it runs on a totally different frequency, one area na mataas ang GSM, UMTS/HSPA+ are might have low to non existent covarage on WiMax, same applies with LTE since that runs on a different frequency

though much like GSM its possible that there is high covereage of WiMax and another area low to non-existent

WiMax is a DEAD technology killed by LTE, it was a war like HD-DVD and Bluray had back in the day which bluray won, nanghihinayang na lang ang mga companies na naginvest sa WiMax tech and Deployment sa lahat ng ginastos nila kaya ginagamit pa rin and they still have service, but unfortunately WiMax will no longer evolve or expand coverage to how much it is right now since LTE and LTE-A is the future of wireless Broadband

another reason why WiMax DIED is Mobile devices, most new models of phone and tablets already have LTE built in(like most Qualcomm Powered phones have LTE in the CPU DIE) and no Manufacturer uses WiMax for 4G on the devices they make

I don't understand how this answers my question though.. I think I know much about these things already, thanks for the mini lecture though.

Just to clarify: what I'm asking is what kind of Policy they employ in distributing bandwidth, is it like Smartbro's canopy wherein one needs to register to a base station? so I'm blocked from getting any BW from another station?

so you mean nung una nakakasagap ka pa ng connection? how fast was it? was it as fast as your original connection or was it slower bago pa tuluyan maging "searching"

2. Baka walang available ng WiMax signal sa new location mo or kung meron mang malapit ng base station merong nakaharang ng building. Line of sight po ang WiMax.

pero sir, I was using it for several weeks prior at okay naman ang connection,

1.) I think pareho lang naman yung search range at frequencies na gamit ng WiMax, I was always getting good signal sa 161000 or something na band, just lately nga lang di na sya makaconnect,

2.) refer to 1.)

3.) I doubt may nakaclone sir kasi walang nakakakita nung device ko mismo nor have I posted it anywhere D:

Try ko ulit maya kung gagana na, tinigilan ko for several weeks kasi same problem eh, pero thanks for the reassurance na hindi yung MAC filtering ginawa nila

Thanks!
