UNITED KINGDOM concern about their aid in the Philippines
« on: December 08, 2013, 09:18:40 am »
Crucial aid sent from Britain to help the victims of typhoon-ravaged areas of the Philippines is being siphoned off and sold for profit by corrupt local officials.

Emergency supplies delivered  by military helicopters have turned up on the shelves of shops in affluent districts of the capital Manila  – hundreds of miles from the disaster zone.

And shelter equipment purchased using British donations has been locked up in government warehouses and stockpiled alongside rice and other food intended for victims of last month’s catastrophe, The Mail on Sunday has learned.

Last night, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) – an umbrella group representing 14 UK charities – expressed concern about evidence that suggests not all the £60 million of aid given by Britain is reaching those most in need.

This is pathetic, outrageous and shameful. Selling such items like novelty items? Out of this world. Sana nga umasenso kayo sa ganyang negosyo.

way before yolanda happened marami ng nagbebenta ng mre. plus yung asa pictures ay standard issue sa us army not uk. this thing is just blown way out of proportion. one mre pack contains around 5k calories it was meant to fuel a soldier. a regular person only needs 2k calories a day. a single pack that is only good for one meal costs the same as a whole families meal for a day. kung special crackers canned goods at water.   walang sira ang ulo ang magbibigay ng mre as relief goods. not only it is a waste of money mas marami kang mapapakain kung regular food ang ibibigay mo

That's because mr. Gordon is the head of red cross. Politics my friend. Kung di ko napabango ang pangalan ko, pabahuin natin lahat.

That is exactly the point. PRC is a private organization spearheaded by dick gordon who is doing good and now kahit private organization sinisiraan. You should know how to read between the line before you overly reacted to something you do not fully understand. smoking::

Hmm... Bilang isang non-profit organisation, walang may-ari ng  Philippine Red Cross. Although, yes, hindi sila funded ng gobyerno.

gordon doesn't owned red cross. no body owns it. infact it should be a non political entity but because the one headed it is  a politician kaya ganyan ang nangyayari.

at di rin si gordon ang nagpifinance dyan, red cross is like any other non gov't. organization that got funding from various company and indiviuals who wants to donate portion of their wealth
