DAVAO CITY -- Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the security forces assigned with the medical relief and search and rescue team on their way to Tacloban City, Leyte to shoot anyone who dares to loot the medical supplies the team is bringing.
“Anarchy eh. Kung pakialaman pa ang medisina eh ano pa ang silbi ng doctor ko? So they can choose, we can add more casualties with wounded by the bullets. Nasa kanila yan,†Duterte said in an interview before he flew off to Tacloban to personally condole with his counterparts there, as well as bring some financial assistance.
“If they will ransack the trucks and get the meds, barilin mo sa paa lang, total may prosthetics naman yan pagkatapos,†he added.
The mayor said that he will be in Leyte only for a short while, just to deliver the assistance and to condole with the people so that the three helicopters volunteered for relief operations can be maximized.
The three helicopters, he said, were already in Cebu as of Monday. He was to fly to Cebu on a commercial flight and use one of the three to fly to Leyte, Samar, and Cebu to hand over the assistance; and then the three medical specialists in the medical team will be ferried by the three helicopters wherever they are needed.
"Hindi man ako importante doon, wala akong magawa except to condole with the community, share the grief with the mayor there. Uuwi na agad ako para magamit ang helicopter (I'm not important there. I can't do anything except condole... I will go home immediately so they can use the helicopters),†he said.
He stressed that the shoot-to-maim order should be taken seriously.
“Do not f--- with my (team). Hindi ako papayag ng ganun, anarchy? Paano tayo makakatulong kung lahat tayo puro mga actor?†he said.

Davao City sent off a 55-man rescue and medical team dawn of Sunday. The personnel were escorted by a team from the Task Force Davao and the Central 911 chief Emmanuel Jaldon.
The convoy is led by a police car that is equipped with a public address system, which will be used to clear out crowds from the road the convoy will be passing through.
“So ang order ko kang Major Solamo (of Task Force Davao), whenever they are being stopped anywhere, they just have to announce that these contingents are from Davao City. We are there, with docs and meds. Sabihin nila, ‘huwag galawin to. Sabi ni Mayor Duterte, pag ginalaw to, babarilin ko kayo,’†Duterte said in an interview at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport shortly before his flight around 6 a.m. Monday.
The rescue team is under instructions to stay for as long as they are needed.
The mayor said the convoy is not bringing food relief since by the time they arrive, food relief would have already arrived from other agencies.
