Under Santiago's proposal, the Priority Development Assistance Fund will be cut in half for 2014. The reduced amount will then be further slashed in half by 2015 and will be completely abolished in the following year.

"This will phase out the pork barrel, so that the gradual abolition will be acceptable to Congress members," said Santiago, chair of the Senate committee on constitutional amendments, revision of codes, and laws.

MANILA, Philippines - Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Wednesday filed a resolution that would phase out pork barrel of lawmakers by 2016.

The controversial PDAF hit the headlines again after an alleged scam involving the diversion of pork barrel funds of several lawmakers was recently exposed.

The pork barrel of these lawmakers are allegedly poured into dummy non-government organizations (NGOs) purportedly for ghost projects worth over P10 billion.

Currently, the PDAF allocated to each senator is P200 million per year, and P70 million to each congressman per year.

Susuportahan ko ito. Sana nga lang maraming susuporta dito.

Just looking at the PDAF as a basis for Dung Matweed is not really something to crow about.  Sen. Miryam should also look at the lump sum budgets of every Cabinet member.  These cabinet members are never elected by the people nor are they serving constituents directly.  They are more of policy-making bodies.  Hence, there is no compelling reason for those Department Secretaries having unaccounted budgets.  Did anyone hear someone asking for liquidation of all expenses of the Secretary of Health? Or has anyone questioned the expenses of the Secretary of Agriculture?  But these people are holding funds more than ten times the PDAF of every congressman or senator.  So if you remove the PDAF of the legislative people, you might as well remove all the budgets of the various Secretaries of those Departments.  But if you do that, will they also remove the budget of the Supreme Court people?

Isa pa, sakaling mawala na ang PDAF or pork barrel susunod na i fifile ang anti dynasty bill at sigurado papasa na ito he he he. personally i think this bill of Sen Miriam will not pass considering the lawmakers natin na sinasamba ang pera
