Spies, help Please! my sister is internet hogger we have rules here that we can only turn on torrents during midnight onwards meaning during dawn lang so we can all use internet at its best during daytime at home, Pero this sister of mine is having vacation lang dito sa Pinas she lives in states and medyo nahihiya ako to tell her to shut off her torrent what i do though is plug off her laptop until it lose battery para mamatay yung laptop nya lol. so I can play games hehehe.

please help me to block her torrent we're using one router gusto ko sana, Iblock ang utorrent which she uses too. masyado na kasi syang garapal. hahaha. lagi ako LAG! gg tuloy ako lagi. Tell me how to set it up and needs? i have no idea with networking and blocking. thanks.

why not set the download limit ng utorrent nya sa lower values..baka naka unlimited...

set it to maybe 40kbps or lower

Try mo baka may QoS setting sa router. I-set mo lower priority bandwith yung p2p/pc nya kung available sa router configuration.

meron akong software na kayang magdisconnect ng internet connection. basta nakaconnect sya sa parehas na network kaya nyang tanggalin ang connection gamit ang laptop o computer mo. akalain nya lang na nawalan internet hehe!

Kaya ko ma ma access ang router pero I doubt if we have existing network kasi la ako alam dun. what I cant access is her laptop. haha.

explain to her that she is basically flooding the router with packets from her torrent and ask her to limit the connections made by her torrent.




ganyan din kasi dito sa bahay, kahit naka limit yung max Download speed sa torrent ng kapatid ko, mataas pa rin yung ping. yun pala na flooded na ng connection yung router ko. at kahit na naka on yung QoS, ganun pa rin sa sobrang dami ng connection. pero ngayon okay na.

kapag napupuno yung bar na yan, babagal yung router at hindi na gagana yung QoS function niya. parang ganyan nangyayari sa DDoS attack.

ano brand and model ng router? it might have a Qos  feature (quality of service), from QoS, you can set a fixed speed for download/upload. that way hanggang dun lang ang ibibigay na speed ng router to that client. you can either assign an IP address to which the rule will affect or the better option is to get the MAC address (you can get the MAC address by checking the client list in DHCP or wireless settings)

kung maccess mo yung router, lagyan mo ng DNS settings (openDNS.com) gawa ka account tapos palitan mo DNS na ginagamit nyo, then filter the sites by category dun sa site ng openDNS. Ginagawa ko usually is block P2P and FileDL , di naman affected gaming.

thats not going to help him, openDNS does NOT block at port level, it only blocks at website level. besides P2P usually does not pass through DNS (hence the term peer to peer). he can use openDNS to block access to the website of the torrents but if the other person already has the torrent file and the torrent client running, openDNS wont be of any help

well, if she can't access P2P websites, she can't get any more links since she can't access P2P websites, I think it's unlikely na maghagilap sya ng links na .torrent anywhere else, It worked with my non-techie cousins so far hehe The problem is kung she knows how to make magnet links or .torrent links work ~

Bro, ang QoS settings depende sa brand/model ng router at frimware version, may kanya-kanyang setup, pwede mo sigurong gawing reference yung link sa TP-Link ni Sir Bodieph sa itaas.

malay mu naka save sa thumb drive na yung torrent. gawain ko kasi yan brod. dito ako sa office naghahanap ng mga torrent files tapos pag uwi sa bahay tsk ko nalang nirurun. hehehe makakapag laro pa ko ng marami sa bahay kesa maghanap ng torrent.

the best way nga is to limit nalang ung bandwidth. since iba iba kasi yung IP add na pumapasok sa torrent warez natin, kaya mahirap i-block.

May rule din dito samin na bawal torrent, port blocked ata siya kaso nadamay online games. Laging Cannot connect to log-in server. Kaya di din siguro pwede yung port blocking.

Di pede port blocking, kasi kahit saang port ppwede sya dumaan. Kahit sa port 80 ppwede. (HTTP)

i-ping mo IP niya para mareset back to reconnecting status ng internet niya.
it may cause nga lang delay lang ata pero mukhang matatagalan siya makaconnect ulit.
