OT: Most, if not all of us here, were not even born yet but the Big 3's has already been in full effect in the NBA. In the late 50's-60's we were graced by the legendary Celtics with Russel, Cousy, Heinsohn, and Havlicek. Then in the 70's we saw the Lakers bring together West, Chamberlain, Baylor, and Goodrich. The 80's gave us Showtime with Magic, Kareem, and Worthy; Celtics with Bird, McHale, and Parish; 76ers with Dr. J, Barkley, M. Malone. And we all know what happened in the 90's onward. But one striking difference in almost all the building of "super teams" compared to Miami's, as pointed out here earlier, drafts and trades ruled back then. While now, players dictate. Hence, the counter act of the NBA in the new CBA.
On-topic: There is no surprise with Dwight not wanting to stay here in our city. Since coming from Orlando, he has explicity cried that he doesn't want to go to LA. I think playing for a great basketball city, with one of the most storied franchise in sports history, is too great of a pressure for Dwight. Even too great for his enormous shoulders. Don't get me wrong, a lot of us fans welcomed and loved the fact that he ended up playing for our city. But I am not sure if he is up to the task of bringing the purple and gold banner to glory. He wasn't kidding when he said that he doesn't want to follow Shaq's footsteps..why? and I can only guess, it's too big to fill...
