this is a classic example of using a single issue (traffic) to better use in a given situation. pinupuna ang kanyang administrasyon sa lumalalang traffic kaya ang sagot niya ay traffic is a sign of progress. nung nahuli siya ng dating sa DOST, eh di, sinisi niya ang traffic.
although traffic is a sign of progress, how one tackles the issue will however show "maturity". in other countries, their traffic system is advance in such that "green or go time" is not fixed in any given time but adjusts based on the volume of traffic available. given that their traffic system is "adapting" hence there is a better flow of vehicles, hence less traffic. likewise, their blinkers and sirens or "wangwang" as we know it, is not merely for telling the vehicle infront of you to pass, but more so to "bypass" the traffic systems (traffic lights if you may) current state to let emergency vehicles to pass. there is a sensor installed that when it sees a given pattern, it gives a green light for such vehicle to pass. to the uninformed, it is just mere blinking lights, however, there is really a pattern to it and such pattern will be programmed to the traffic system for it to automatically detect an "authorized blinker" and let it pass as such. lets say the patter assignment will be based on provincial or regional in scope and as such it is common to see blinker units that have program banks totalling six. other "generic blinkers" only have one standard set of blink patterns and are mostly targeting the paporma crowd back then. sadly, i havent heard of such true use of blinker system installed in any of traffic system in the philippines. davao, however, i have heard have been doing a lot of innovations, however, mukhang wala ring ganito.
