PHILIPPINES - the least liked in the Asian neighborhood

In three years, we have made ourselves the least liked in the neighborhood.

The Cambodians do not like us because of what they consider President Aquino’s ill-manners during the Phnom Penh Asean meeting. The Indonesians cast a wary eye on us because, the year before when they hosted the Asean summit, President Aquino closeted himself in his room and avoided the functions. At the Vladivostok Apec summit, we misrepresented Singapore’s foreign policy positions. We escalated the spat with China without close consultations with our Asean partners.

When the Thai prime minister paid Manila a visit, presidential sister Kris publicly speculated about a possible romantic link between her brother and the guest. The Thai prime minister is very happily married.

Malaysia, of course, blames Manila for letting the Lahad Datu incident happen. The Vietnamese probably feel we are not consulting them enough about the South China Sea claims.

China does not like us because of the way we handled the South China Sea issues. Hong Kong does not like us because of the unfortunate Luneta incident. Now Taiwan does not like us too.

How have we managed to antagonize so many of our neighbors so quickly?

I think "to vow (or bow)" or "tumuwad" is not the answer rather than the govt needs to re-evaluate or be more cautious in everything that they do specially these are critical times that we are having. Diplomacy is the key.

Antagonizing all Asian countries means their is something wrong the way our govt handles its foreign policies or engagements.

Kung sa isang classroom at lahat ng kaklase mo eh galit sau, malamang na sau na ang problema malamang maangas ka or di ka marunong makipag kapwa tao. Siguro kung isa or dalawang kaklase lang eh malamang ok lang yun.

Galit ang MGA Cambodians?Why? ano ba nangyari dun sa summit?

Indonisians naman? ano ang source ng author?

Singapore? They never really liked us diba? feeling superior sila.

Thailand? na offend ba sila?

Malaysia? "letting the incident happen." Papaano ba mapipigilan mangyari ang ganyang mga bagay?Hindi ba pabor sa
malaysia yung response ng gobyerno natin?

China?Sige ibigay nalang natin sa china ang spratly para matuwa sila sa atin.(sarcasm)

HK? unfortunate talaga ang nangyari.Big f*** ups ang nangyari.Pero ano pa ba ang gusto nilang mangyari?

Taiwan? Hindi ko masyadong alam ang nangyari dito pero ano ang kasalanan ng mga workers natin ?

The reasons stated by Alex Magno has one common issue, Philippines is beginning to stand its ground and hold its own interest over other countries in Asia. Hindi perpekto ang bansa pero natututo na tayo na unahin yung sariling interes bago magpa-good shot sa ibang bansa.

Cambodia is a strong ally of China, kaya wag na magtaka kung ayaw din nila sa atin, kaya nga hindi nadiscuss yung issue sa China nung sa Cambodia ginawa yung ASEAN meeting dahil inignore ito ng Cambodia kung hindi lang nagbigay ng statement ang Pilipinas noon ay maglalabas ng statement ang ASEAN in favor of China mabuti at umangal ang Pilipinas. Tayo pa ang masama ang ugali noon dahil isinulong natin yung interes ng bansa? Pero kapag hindi umimik ang bansa noon sasabihin din na wala tayong ginawa at hinayaan na apakan tayo ng ASEAN members. Sala sa init, sala sa lamig.  laffman::

Yung issue sa Thai prime minister, pang showbiz lang yun pero pinatulan pala ni Magno.  laffman::

Why should we consult Vietnam regarding our own claims?  ???

We will be exporting rice (15 metric tons of black rice, 20 tons of japonica rice and 30 tons of long grain aromatic rice) to Indonesia and Dubai this year. Ayaw pala sa atin ng Indonesia ano?  laffman::

Yung issue with Malaysia, hindi pamahalaan ang nagsimula nun, yung Datu ang nagpasimuno ng gulo, not the Philippine government.

Yung issue with HongKong, hindi lang sa bansa natin namamatay ang mga dayuhan, kahit sa first world country tulad ng US madaming namamatay, they have a right to be mad at us and we take it as it is.

Madalas meron tayong inferiority complex para sa bansa natin pero minsan gusto lang talaga natin talagang hilahin pababa ang isa't-isa para umangat ang gusto nating i-angat.

Actually, ang gustong tirahin ni Magno sa article na yan, yung pamamahala ni BS (haha BS  laffman::) Aquino. 

Unfortunately, buong bansa ang dinamay nya na pinapalabas nya na ayaw sa atin ng mga kapit-bansa natin, misrepresenting issues to promote his own agenda.

Unfortunately, idiots will suck on it, hook, line and sinker without checking the facts.  ;D

Mahina kasi ang government natin walang pag kakaisa, watak watak puro personal na interest ang gusto, isama pa yung mga negative na kababayan natin...

Itong article na ito hinde nakakatulong sa bansa natin, dapat mas lalo tayung magkaisa sa panahon na ito.

Mas lalong hinahatak tayo pababa, anung gusting gawin ng author nito lumuhod tayo sa mga katabing bansa natin?

walang ibang tutulong sa atin kung di tayo rin.

One good example na lang is the country of Israel maliit na bansa sila pero hinde sila basta kinakayanan ng mga arab countries na nakapalibot sa kanila, at lahat may pag kakaisa nag tutulungan.
