Ladies and gentlemen of the
Espiya Republic, please allow me to present this month's issue of
Rogue Philippines.
This issue was embroiled in two controversies. The first involves author
Miguel Syjuco's complaint that an excerpt of his work--which is included in an upcoming anthology of stories from the country's best young writers--was going to be published without his permission. Rogue eventually withdrew the excerpt from the final copy (
although Syjuco still wants a public apology from the magazine).
The second is the alleged nip slip involving cover girl
Giselle Toengi. She said that she was dancing during her shoot, thereby resulted in the unintentional and unwanted exposure. When she noticed the nipple slip in one of the photos while she was looking through the results of the shoot, she asked that it be edited (
but she did clarify that she had no problem with doing "daring" photo shoots).
