Emo Girl

Once there was a lonely girl,
Always dressed in midnight black.
Her face is masked with her hair,
Her  world, hidden in the dark.

Emo Girl as she was called,
Emotional and loner.
Looks tough yet vulnerable,
A statement, or mere cover?

She was young and she’s alone,
And she thought she’s safe that way.
But the things she hadn’t known,
Are the things she’d need one day.

She’s not taught how to deal with
A love that overwhelmed her.
And when this love departed,
She was not taught how either.

One more thing she should have learned;
Authority of elders.
With the hurtful words she heard,
She mistook care for anger.

All she knew was what she had
Inside her own little place.
But nobody understands,
So she thought… she was a waste.

Around her, she built this wall,
To protect her from the world.
When it shook and starts to fall,
Along with it she crumbled.

A piece of rope caught her eye,
Then suddenly things went fast.
She grabbed a pen, wrote goodbye,
Darkness…
Silence…
Peace at last.

Your escape, unpredicted.
You left without a warning.
The girl who felt unwanted,
Never to be back again.

Why only now that you’re gone,
That we feel more your presence.
We remember that someone -
What those looks hide, your essence.

Underneath that guisefull hair,
An angel’s face is hiding.
In dark shadow, with sharp stare,
Your eyes, in tear but shining.

Now your hair, combed off your face.
Your dress, a glimmering white.
Eyes shut, shadow is erased,
Perhaps blinded by the light.

Emo Girl, don’t be blinded,
Let the light shine on your face.
Heed the voice and take His hand.
Now you’re free…
Now you are safe…
