Mga idol, paano po gawing black and white or basta ibang kulay yung isang tao sa isang pic? pa-tutor naman po and ano po ba tawag sa ganung process?

for example, paki-gawa pong B&W yung bata na nandun sa right. Thanks po.  finger4u in advance.

My method:  Gamit ka  ng pen tool or lasso to trace the subject. Set the feather value to 1 or 2 depende sa quality ng pictures mo para di halata ang cuts.  Pag naselect mo na ang subject through lasso or pen tool hanapin mo ang hue/saturation sa menu or press the ctrl + 'U', hanapin mo saturation tapos isagad mo sa negative value.

Other way:  Use the brush with basic shape yung pabilog na soft ang edge.  Sa color palette choose gray color, then, stroke the brush into the target subject with brush mode: Saturation.....

Tama lahat ng sinabi nila and another thing to remember.  Photo retouching is about isolation, when you can master to isolate objects you can also master isolating colors.  It's just 256 levels of gray per channel (RGB for video or any other projected images, CMYK for any printed materials)  


kung mapapansin nyo lahat ng Tools sa PSD is for isolation.  Happy retouching

Layer masking is a non destructive form of isolating an object or color.   Para siyang Layer within a layer and it operates on black and white/foreground and background colors.  Masking siya na editable on the fly, unlike kapag diretso sa Layer kailangan mo i-undo lahat, kapag naka Layer mask ka ang edit nangyayari sa Channels so mas malambot, mas smooth and mas safe. (parang condom ad).

Ah thanks, so para ka na ring nag add ng additional layers for rendering..yun kasi nakasanayan ko...

No problem... Ganon nga without the extra baggage of additional file size.  Pag nag add ka kasi ng layers additonal 3 chanels (for RGB) and additional 4 (CMYK). Kapag layer mask lang additonal 1 chanel ka lang.  Tignan mo yung file size sa lower left ng screen kapag nag-add ka ng layer against kapag nag add ka ng layer mask.

actually it limits the usage of many layers. This is so good when mastered you can manipulate and render colors and effects and take it back to its original if you dont like what you did. more on exploring the most in your idea Tapos with knowledge with other tools in PS you can manipulate every pictures you want effectively.

May isang step pa which you can apply for what TS is inquiring. its the use of color adjustment and your history brush.

First make a copy of your original photo and hide by clickin the eye. just in case somethin goes wrong eh u have a back up layer. Then adjust your  photo/image according sa color tone na gusto nyo using adjustments for curve, levels, and hue/saturation. in this photo i adjusted the contrast and placed the saturation higher para makuha ko ung ganyan skintone na gusto ko this is LAYER 1. After that i made another copy of LAYER 1 then in convert it to black and white this is LAYER 2 placed it above the colored one making it in front stack. Now for the layer masking, select nyo ung layer 2 then click the layer mask button which can be found on the lower right of the layers palette. there should be a white square na naka link sa layer 2 nyo. make sure na nakaselect un then click and select for a brush make sure it has small feather lang. in your color foreground and background make sure it is in the default color of black and white. Now trace the picture na gusto nyo by brushing it ( make sure na black ung foreground color nyo and naka select ung mask layer) dont worry kung di nyo matratrace exactly or may excess during brushing nyo kasi ma rerevert nyo sya by switching to white ung foreground color nyo. when done merge layer 1 and 2 and then adjust the filter by unsharpening mask tantyahin nyo na lang to your desired level para lumabas ung details nun pic. then lastly i apply and used the burn tool for the effects on side para lumitaw ung mga colored subjects.
