The Koran: Guilty!
« on: April 03, 2011, 10:09:05 pm »
This is rather late but I reckon my fellow Espiyas should know about this.

So after threatening to burn a Koran last September, Reverend Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville Florida, finally decided to try a new tack: put the Koran on trial and--if found guilty--sentence it to an 'execution'.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/03/22/national/main20045858.shtml

I wonder: how exactly is this supposed to give Christianity the moral authority to preach love and peace to all mankind?

Tama ka bro.  Di ako masyadong nakapagbasa ng Bibliya pero naalala ko na sa last days prophecy magsisilabasan ang mga false churches and doctrines.  Una pa lang na nabasa ko tung balitang to napag-isip nga ako if that really promotes Christianity with that.  We are not in medieval period na rin.

Thats what religion brought to people.

But in the old the time, the X-tians tortured and executes people because of what the bible said in the old testament.

I tried to stay away from commenting topics in theology section dahil sensitive ang topic na ito and even in debates iniiwasan ito but this topic is very disturbing because Reverend Terry Jones' group associate themselves as Christians.

Please don't associate his group with Christians. Christians don't do stuff like that. They just want their group to be famous. For me, a true Christian don't make gaps through religion. Instead, a true Christian bridges people of different religion to attain peace. For us Christians and even those who are not, let us make this prayer an inspiration to promote peace.

God is just. He will surely reward those who will remain faithful, pero may nakalaan ding kaparusahan sa mga evildoer.

I like to think of myself as a scientific sort as well, Écuyer Sixth_String and so I don't take sacred texts--be it the Koran or the Bible--literally since it's understood that these were written with the intent to communicate a specific idea. As a theology professor once told me, the Bible and the Koran also happen to be works of literature (holy though they may be) and so their authors have the license to make use of appropriate metaphors and such to craft their message.

That said, I'm not the sort to burn books simply because the ideas appear to run contrary to my own. If anything, a person of a scientific bent would be better served by reading books (in general) in order to determine if they do contain any errors that might then be used to refute those who would use those books to spread those errors.

After all, is not science essentially the pursuit of truth through the acquisition and application of knowledge?

Im not pointing to any person, Im pointing to "Koran" and the so-called "Holy bible". If you have time please read the old testament, lalo na sa Judge at Joshua. Joshua murdered non isralites, from children to old, they just left the virgins for their own and guess what: thats  Yahweh/Jehova's will. These books are the cause of war and people's insanity for the ages. These 3 revealed religions: the Christians, Muslim and Jews are the product of the Abrahamic religion but why these religions kill each other.

We should question our own beliefs. These religions are afraid to question their own beliefs but they question the beliefs of other religion. Like Jehovas Witness, Roman Catholic, Protestant, Born Again etc. they are contrary to each other. The same thing as Muslim and Jews.

The world would be at peace if everyone are free to choose their desired religion but never impose their beliefs to other people.

people built the greatest wall in history and it was called religion. over the past we can see how much suffering it'd caused...and if you would asked what proof do i have;it was writen on the holy book that most people revered!say the destruction of sodom and gomorrah was just one of the genocide that happen in the bible...it really is amusing to think that religion was the one who thought us not to kill and yet we could freely read in it's scripture the killings that it brought!
same as for the muslim, why would allah permit the killing of the infidel?when islam really means peace!?where's the in killing?
i didn't mean to offend anyone...it was just my opinion!!!

Im glad theres still people like you who really understand whats truth behind religion.  finger4u finger4u

Our "holy bilbe" are the reflection and proof that uncivilized and barbaric people were really existed.

In old time, the idea that the earth orbiting the sun was a taboo. Church stated that the earth is the center and the sun orbit the earth and anyone who thought otherwise were declared insane and heretic. Galileo Galilei the father of physics and astronomy was also a victim of the Christian ignorance. Galilei were put to house arrest by the Pope of that time because of his assumption that the earth orbit the sun. To cover their guilt they support astronomy and the vatican made their own astronomical study. Maybe they forgot the time that they hated the people who were contrary to church belief. Oh by the way, the vatican have the complete gallery and story of prostitution, tortures and execution. It is hide in the belly of vatican. ;D

The vatican never accepted the idea that the universe created by Big Bang and we came from apes. We need 50 to 100 years to prove that big bang and evolution are true and  not sort of crazy assumption. Ano na naman kaya ang gagawin ng Vatican para to cover their guilt pag napatunayan na tama ang Bigbang at Evolution Theory.By ignoring evolution you like ignored the mountains of evidence. What they didnt know is these theory is well expalained. The theory is a guess with evidence and the belief of a "Diety" is a faith without evidence.

I didnt intended also to hurt anyone. I just want to emphasize my opinion. Peace
