Hip-Hop is DEAD?
« on: January 26, 2010, 09:38:25 pm »
just alone in my crib, unwindin while smokin on Llello, (yay-yo),
then i decided to open the boombox and hear whats new on the radio/
a familiar song came up, like the ones i hear in fx and jeepneys,
it's like an american novelty version of songs of mr. willie's/ (revillame)
and yet the ugly side of it, it's been played on a hiphop station,
is it me or just confusion, that this is rap's ugly transformation?/
and these songs have been hits, people would always wanna lis-ten..,
..to artists like t-pain, yung joc and even sean king-sten/ (kingston)
they blast they music on they speakers, and this is what it may seem,
that nobody anymore these days, listen to music of Rakim/
and it's saddening cuz it's real', for what hip hop has become,
the fact that most "hiphop fans" out there, doesn't know KRS-One/
and the industry is strugglin', w/ artist w/ recycled lyrics,
much worse is they get songs from pop music and turn it into a remix/
can someone stand up and make a stop or put them into silence?,
cuz these artists only raps about money, and knows nothin but violence/
while "fans" support these icons, adore their images instead..,
and one should know REAL HIPHOP... before it is proclaimed dead///

i wrote this almost 2 yrs ago. Llello is what rappers call "L's"

What is Hip Hop, and how was it killed?
Is it dead or we just listen to artist lacking skills?
Hip Hop in the 90's was the golden age
and we hear this a lot - "nothing is promised but change"
See, money and violence is a part of the game
sex, alcohol and drugs, weed - even cocaine
If you listen to the 90's man you know what I mean
Rap music nowadays just about the marketing scheme
and I don't blame them cos artists just want food on their plate
"it's about entertainment" - how The ZULU NATION would say
What is Real Hip Hop? Nobody can answer it straight
So go straight to Bambaata and your views will change
T-pain, Kingston, Young Joc and such
they're in a new sub-genre and left the game intact
matter of fact their existence urged artists to step their game up
come up with new sounds, style and have a hit track
Because if they don't, then the industry will not support them
radio won't play them and only few will listen
So, who's to blame, the Artists or the industry?
We hear artists say Hip Hop is dead but this is just hypocrisy.

As for me, I don't care much about what's "Real Hip Hop" and what's not
as long as it sounds good and being true then I listen to that
Why not just enjoy good hits we hear and ignore what bothers your head
Instead of waving a banner saying "HIP HOP IS DEAD"

nice one sir pero di pa naman talaga patay ang hip hop..it just evolved into something that lacks lyricism and most of the time originality dito naman sa atin parang puro naririnig ko na rap is love song o kaya yung mga "underground" rappers na ang kanta e para lang lagi sa mga kaaway nila..yung ngayon e yan ang bumebenta sa mga tao..unti lang pinapakinggan ko ngayun sa hip hop karamihan ng pinapakinggan ko from 90's..pero malay natin bumalik din yung kinalakihan natin..
