I don't think that money exists anymore. If it did, the government should have already gone to subpoena everyone and everything leading to the showboated notes. But there's one thing I took from that interview.

Imelda suggested during the presentation part of the interview to have an underwater tunnel connecting the main island province of the Philippines to enable massive trade routes. I know RO-RO is already filling that role but the system is not as efficient to allow rapid growth. It's a start. Maybe its time to take a gamble. Go Federalism!

i don't believe that they still have that much money anymore... I think the certificate that she had shown to the interviewer was a fake, to substantiate and justify her claim that she will build undersea tunnel to connect the entire archipelago.. Knowing imelda and her illusions of grandiose..lol.

Everybody here is supposed to be an "espiya" so maybe, try reading the book Gold Warriors to have an understanding of how Marcos was able to get hold of the gold which Ms. Imelda claims her husband had prior to their marriage.

Salonga before said on record that Marcos stole USD13 Billion during his entire Presidency.  But if we are to add all of the government budget during all those years, wala na sanang ginamit pagawa kalsada, sweldo ng mga government employees at gastusin ng pamahalaan dahil kinuha lahat ni Marcos.  Pero it does not make sense na nakapag nakaw ng USD13 Billion yet tumakbo pa rin ang gobyerno at maski we sum all government funds all the years of his presidency ay hindi man lang aabot ito ng USD5Billion.  So where did Marcos get the difference na ninakaw daw?  If we are to follow Salonga's claim na may nakawan, dapat sana ay may conviction na maski isang kaso man lang ng pagnanakaw dahil wala na rin ang mga Marcos sa poder but yet, the Government has not even an iota of evidence even up to this minute that can hold water.

Yun "pera" ni Marcos is asset that is physically there yet legally can not exist. Parang pera mo sa bulsa na kinita mo sa isang buy-and-sell transaction pero it does not "exist" kasi di mo naman declare sa ITR mo na kumita ka.  Why? Kasi, the various governments where the gold was plundered can lay claim to war booty up to forty years at yun 40 years na yun ay natapos nun 1986 (1946 ang tapos ng war at year of our Independence) which was the year that he was overthrown.  Pinadagdagan pa yun ni Pres. Cory ng another ten years so pwede lang ilabas ang yaman na yun after 1996.  Since that asset is physically there which made Marcos so powerful, governments wants to have a part of it and they only way to do that was to topple Marcos.  Remember, Marcos was one of the first head of state to recognize China in the early 70s at Marcos even gave China the money to prop up their foreign exchange - at that time na walang basta mag recognize ng China.

Now that Marcos is legally dead, wala rin nahawakan ang mga gustong makakuha sa asset so para hindi rin natin magamit and make the Philippines a powerhouse, they invented a ruse so we can not move the mony easily at naimbento ang anti- money laundering.  Ito naman mga local banks eh para naman walang mga isip na sunod ng sunod sa mga dikta ng mga foreign institutions.  Why not instead create a tax haven zone to entice foreign capital to come in like what Malaysia did in Labuan? Fruits from crime like drugs or kidnapping is nothing compared to the amount of money that can be moved against these assets.

That is the very same asset that was used to back up the printing of our money na meron Bagong Lipunan before.  You can not just print money without back up and the printing was approved because international banks knew that Marcos had the assets contrary to the claims of the succeeding administration that the government was bankrupt when they took over.  Yet, maski gusto gamitin yan para sa Pinas now, mahirap pa rin dahil sa sobrang corruption and government ineptness.  Yun lang coordination ng disaster assistance, hindi na magawa ng tama, how much more to manage at least USD10Billion for the economy eh di lalong walang mangyayari.  Relief lang eh hindi pa ma distribute ng maayos and the relief goods just get stored in DSWD warehouses. Six years and I never saw anything substantial to create an image of a Philippines moving forward to being a First World economy - and to think that you have a President who is supposed to be an economist.

Maski marami asset yan, hindi ipamimigay yan so let us stop thinking as a mendicant. It has to be used to create credit facilities to fund real industries (eg. car manufacturing, ship building, aircraft assembly, etc) that will generate jobs; create financial institutions that can provide real investment banking to fund commercial ventures and housing projects; fund corporate farming in Bukidnon, Cotabato and Nueva Ecija of a magnitude that we can control certain crops like Malaysia being the world's top palm oil exporter; fund oil exploration, drilling and refinery construction in South Palawan and Lanao; create a national railways system; create a modern navy and air force with MIGs, battleships, PT boats, missiles, cruisers and attack helicopters; build hydropower plants and wind farms; upgrade of government pay; and a modern educational and health care system like what they have in Canada or Australia.  If we can do all of these and pay our workers the same level of salaries they will get abroad, I don't think meron pang gustong tiisin ang init sa Middle East. At that point, politics will just die a natural death and no one will just go lick a politician's ass na nagaantay na lang ng iaabot para makabili ng panghapunan yun aso.

mukhang totoo nga na me ganitong pera si marcos.
i remember last year ung feature sa discovery or history channel about the gold bullion
stolen by japan during ww2.
3 lg naman ang pupuntahan ng pera:
the Americans - kaya of all the war criminals si yamashita ang pinakamabilis na natrial and executed
para pgtakpan ang possibleng 'pagnakaw' ng us sa mga ginto.
another possible reason - the gold was hidden, yamashita didn't tell the americans about the location
but their government knew it - the gold was bit by bit transferred to china then to japan by a group of elite
or unique group of japanese soldiers composed of gangs - which eventually evolved to Yakusa.
and the 3rd possible reason - the marcoses were able to find those golds...kaya ganun kalaki pera nila.

uh... $987 Billion?

Tiningnan ko yung 25 richest ayon sa Forbes magazine for 2009
(http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/10/billionaires-2009-richest-people_The-Worlds-Billionaires_Networth.html)

In add ko ang top 25. Lumabas $480 billion.... Wala pa sa kalahati ng $987 Billion.

So sure ako peke nanaman to.
