Suggestion lang sirs, para sa kin na regular dito, by topic replies yung tinitingnan ko, recently andaming nagrerevive ng dead threads, lock na po siguro natin yung > 2 years na, maybe unless yung TS ang magreply for updates. Ano sa tingin nyo?

Im in favor pero depende sa thread, halimbawa useful naman yung thread like tips na pwedeng magamit sa pang-araw araw na pamumuhay or even technology-- computer fix and trouble shooting, etc. And lastly yung mga hot topics lalo kung may mga pictures pa na nakabubuhay ng patay, wag muna ang mga yun kasi kahit luma na basta pwede pang pakinabangan e let's keep them open for others to see. ;)

LOCK as in no more additional comments/replies, wala akong sinabing idelete syempre..
maybe new board na din siguro ng mga nonsense na kuro-kuro i.e. "hanggang kelan humahaba buhok sa kilikili?", yung mga tipong uumpisahan ng TS tapos di na sya magrereply sa thread, ever.. medyo baboy lang dating sa kin, sana may "Pigsty" boards na on-demand lang ganun. haha suhestiyon ko lang naman bilang walang nagagree dun sa block user threads na sinuggest ko dati.

maybe we can archive the topics which has no more movement in a years time... at least we clean up the boards for new topics and at the same time remain updated.. an archive section may be made for the new members to check though they cannot comment on it anymore....

I think nagrereport na ko dati pero walang action so far, specifically yung threads na walang laman kundi pa-PM na spanning several years na.. sa ngayon madali makita dun sa "new replies to all topics" filter yung necromancy. Para lang naman medyo malinis dito sa bakuran hehe

this was discussed before by the staff and mods but there was no consensus at the time and admin has been busy so it died down without any concrete plans or actions on what to do. some wanted to lock all threads older than a certain period, some wanted them locked and archived so less bandwidth and database load, some wanted to archive and move them to another site so they can still be accessible if people wanted to

malabo na talagang ibalik ang golden days dito, marami kasing nagiging issues among the members. syempre, iba-iba na rin ang priorities ng mga dating member dito, unlike before na halos araw-araw ang daming bagong threads at active pa talaga ang mga members noon. :)

have to agree with this.. this is also happening with other forum sites since you can do majority of the activities here in there...

uhm.. common factor yung 'lock'/'acrhive' sa tatlong option, hindi pa ba considered na consensus yun? now, the only thing left to consider e kung idedelete na lang or imomove, right?
maybe archive that is subscription / on-demand only? copy sya nung old threads pero non-locked status, original threads remain locked

there was a consensus to lock/archive the old threads but the problem was what to do with them. that was where there was no consensus. the other issue was which threads to lock. one proposal was lock all threads with no replies for the last 30 days (since this option is available in SMF already) but 30 days seemed too short so again no consensus.
so yes the staff and admin did agree that there was a need to do something about old threads and that was to lock/archive them, kaso dun sa specifics hindi nagkaron ng consensus. and sa words lang nagkaron ng common factor dun. the actual method on doing it involves very different things. the easiest was to just lock all old threads (meaning they will still be around just locked) but that led to another problem which was how do we define old threads? it also does not address the bandwidth problem (which if people recall at that time, hindi pa natatapos ang month wala na bandwidth exceeded na ang site)
the other option was to lock and then archive para bawas bandwidth, but again may problema ulit since there are some threads na kahit luma na might be worth reading again. which gave rise to the third option, archive them to another site which people can view if they wanted to, kaso this involved a lot of work since basically its making a new separate forum just to house the old threads

i think the best option for now is to lock those threads.. you can still view them but cannot comment on those anymore... at least new members may still be able to glimpse a past of espiya ...
