MANILA, Philippines – Is this final? And more importantly, no more taking backsies?
Days after he said he’s angry at the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET)’s decision to junk the disqualification case against Sen. Grace Poe and the country’s current controversies, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte confirms he is running for president in 2016.
“Yes, I am running,†he told Rappler via phone on Saturday night as he was attending a law classmate’s birthday party in Dasmariñas, Cavite. “There are things in life that would move a man, a citizen, to do something even if he doesn’t enjoy it.
According to ABS-CBN, the tough-talking mayor told the guests present he is running because of the SET’s decision essentially allowing Poe to run even though questions about her being a natural-born Filipino has yet to be laid to rest.
“What made me decide to run? Was it an offer for money? No. I just want to say stop [expletive] with the Philippines,†he told fellow partygoers. “Nothing against Grace but if you run for the highest post in the land, it must be reserved for a true-blue Filipino.â€
Addressing Poe directly, he said: “If ever you make it, you will be a presumptive president by citizenship. I cannot accept that.â€
“What will happen when she is disqualified because she is American?†he asked. “Give me an Igorot, an Aeta, a plumber, anyone as long he or she’s a Filipino. It’s a matter of principle. If things are like that then my candidacy for the presidency is on the table.â€
Despite his personal declaration, Duterte said he will still have to speak with his PDP Laban partymates especially Sen. Aquilino “Koko†Pimentel III to get their blessing.

This will actually help Binay more than it will anyone else.
Anyone who will vote for Binay will ONLY vote for Binay, they're not thinking of anyone else. But anyone who won't vote for Binay is not necessarily decided on whether to vote for Poe, Mar, Miriam, or now Duterte. Duterte adding to that mix further divides the vote while not affecting Binay votes. So who will end up with the biggest portion of votes? Binay, and he will win.
One of the flaws in our system wherein so many people can run for president, is that you don't need the majority vote to win.

I've been saying this since day 1. More choices just means bigger chance for Binay to win. But as much as I hate Binay I'd actually vote for him rather than a terrorist cuddling hypocrite.

huh? di ba president yung finile ni Dino? last day of filing pa nga yun, as representative ng coalition nila.

^ Ang finile ni Dino e for President tapos may nakalagay dun sa declaration na for Mayor nang Pasay. Anyway mainly clerical error lang naman yun. I don't think there will be an issue regarding the substitution.

I doubt it, nagbigay na ng feedback yung staff nya 2 days ago. Problema ko naman kay MDS, may vested interest sya sa political parties, kahit na alam namang kurakot (Erap, Cronies, etc.), syempre tao din. Si Digong, Cold hearted, in the leader kind of way.

heaven forbids... then it's gonna be another 6 years of uncertainty if ever... haven't seen the latest sws survery for the vp slot, but i think bbm is holding his own against chiz and robredo...

Chiz na yan for sure. There are a lot of BBM haters dahil dun sa pag deny nya about Marcos' corruption(not about having the Marcos name). Iboboto ko pa rin sya but it's a hail mary.

Sorry but not all anti-marcos are pro-aquinos, It just doesn't strike me as a good trait for a politician to attempt to clean a clearly muddled past. That's the exact opposite of Duterte.

i think that's courage is the the thing that makes herrun...di lang naman si ang duterte matapang,..duterte kills..its bad for everything which ever side you look into it...mirriam surely puts you in jail whoever you, and lets you suffer in it, di baleng labanan mo sya ang mahalaga makita ka nya sa kulungan..duterte is one sided man..he kills thats all with regards to economic management and international objective this country is doomed...
