NAST (National Academy of Science & Technology) Member named Harvard Scientist of 2007
NAST Corresponding Member was recently named Harvard Scientist of 2007.
Academician Baldomero M.Olivera, a well-known biochemist and molecular biologist will receive the award at an honorary luncheon on Friday (23 March 2007) at Harvard Pforzheimer House, which marks the opening of the annual Albert Einstein Science Conference.
Academician Olivera was recognized for his significant contributions in the field of biology. His researches led to the discoveries of numerous Conus peptides which are now in various phases of clinical trials as highly specific drugs for pain, epilepsy, and other disorders of the nervous system.
The Harvard Scientist Award is given annually to an internationally renowned scientist for his or her contributions and achievements in the biological and physical sciences, and particularly their efforts to advance minorities and women in sciences.
