The irony is that a lot of people who complain about corruption turn a blind eye to it whenever they can use it to their advantage.
As an example, there's this kagawad in my neighborhood who likes to rail against the way the government steals his hard-earned daily wages while in the comfort of his home that just happens to be powered by illegal electrical connections. When someone reported him to Meralco, the kagawad actually went to the person's house and tried to break down the door so that he could inflict grievous bodily harm upon the unfortunate fellow who was only trying to do the right thing.
