Yong may frat dyan or sorority bigay naman yong side nito tungkol sa isyung ito.... ;D

hindi nmn cla msama nsa sau nmn yan kung san kang fraternity ka sasali... kc smin lhat kmi pantay-pantay lhat kmi mgkakapatid at ngrerespetuhan sa isa't isa, kung tlgang inirerespeto ka ng frat na sasalihan mo hindi ka nya bababuyin bagkus babaguhin ka nya na parang bagong silang na anak... cguro msasabi ko lang msama yung frat kung lumalagpas na sya sa limitation ng human rights at sa free will ng individual...

'm a member of two frats. very active ako nung college. sari saring experiences mararanasan mo, may maganda, may pangit. simula sa initiation hanggang sa maging myembro ka, may mapupulot kang experience.
did you guys know that ninoy aquino and ferdinand marcos were both members of the upsilon sigma phi? ver and marcos were also brods in up vanguard. bill clinton was also a member of APO.

Even if i didnt have the chance to be a member of a fraternity in my college days where supposedly i could exeprience it personally and be able to discern if its really good or bad, (my choice was to join a Religious org.) i cant say its bad neither good since it has a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Though we often heard the bad side or effects of it, thats the reason why parents really wanted as much as they could to take away their kids from joining these groups. Rarely we heard about the good side of it. Anyhow, if i were to decide i rather not join.

The group/organization per se is not the problem, it promotes the spirit of brotherhood, unity, solidarity, camaraderie and friendship, etc. ( say, one country one race represent itself) the lone indication that this org. is a "bad shot" are the people who makes up the organization.
To be safe, better to know the rules and the people who makes up the org.. and the name itself. and better think a dozen times before joining an org, it is ur career and future are at stake.

Galing ako sa isang fraternity sa UP , so from my experience wala namang masama sa fraternities. I you look deeper,you can always see noble purposes and principles, at iyon ang mga dahilan kung bakit kahit na masama ang reputasyon ng mga ito ay patuloy pa rin ang recruitment. Ang brotherhood kasi second home mo yan sa school, in goes beyond your graduation, you would always be a brod, through thick or thin kasama mo sila. Ung hazings, rumbles saka iba pang violence naging part na yan ng buhay frat although ako personally have a strong stand against it. Mahirap ijustify ung mga ito pag nasa labas ka at spectator pero ung ibang espiya dyang may mga frat naiintindihan ako...pag minsan kasi natural na violence ang kalalabasan pag nakita mo ung brod mo na duguan o kaya ay nasaktan so sometimes we act instinctively kesa in a rational manner.
Usually ang tingin sa mga fratmen alang kwenta, mga patapon o di kaya mga rebelde pero from my experience hindi ganun, makikita mo ung mga dating frontliners sa rumbles mga high ranking public officials na, may mga doctor at lawyers saka puro professional. Maaring siguro that observation ay limited lang sa nakita ko sa UP. Sa amin lang sa 30 members ng frat nung residente pa ako mga 8 na ang lawyers 5 ang doctors ung iba tulad ko nasa law proper at med proper ung iba nga mga professors na.
Kahit anong criticisms ang sabihin ng iba para sakin Fraternities make men out from boys, they are the best training ground for life's real battle.

mabuti: dahil marami kang magiging kaibigan.
matututo kang makibagay at makisama
magkakaron ka ng desiplina sa sarili
"maraming girls" (joke) but kidding aside "hehehehe"
masama: dahil minsan ilan sa member ng kapatiran ay may masamang inpluwensya
tulad ng pakikipag basag ulo at pag gamit ng ipinagbabawal na gamot o droga
at iba pa.
Ngaun nasa tao nalang na myembro ng kapatiran kung gusto nyang maging masama o hindi...at nasa namumuno rin kung paano magpalakad ng kapatiran. because some rules are being taken for granted dba?...so if you're a frat member....it's up to you!

Spyda khit kapatid kta dko gusto yung post mo pero anyway i like the post of Boogieman nramdaman ko yung true meaning of fraternity so LONG LIVE TAU GAMMA PHI / SIGMA i miss you so much guys!

I'm a frat member before...not just a member but one of the Masters (frat name, no need to mention since i'm inactive right now)...being a frat member is not that bad...it depends on how to handle it by every member...
As foreveryoung mentioned, brotherhood, unity, friendships, etc. are the indications of an organization/frat...it is a sole responsibility of every member...it is also a respect for each other...
If you are aware, Fidel Ramos is a frat member during his time...there are so many political and celebrity figures who joined this organization...

hhmm.... anu bang masasavi ko.... wala nmn masama dun gaya ko curiosity lng nag pasok saken pero naging 1 ako sa mga founding batch.... maganda rin un kc malalaman mo kung anu ung ibig savihin ng " DECIPLINE " (tama ba???)
