Longtime fans of author
Stephen King know that six of his works were written under the pseudonym
"Richard Bachman". Two of those--
Thinner (1984) and
The Regulators (1996)--are novels. The earlier ones are short fiction that were published in 1985 as a collection entitled
The Bachman Books.
The
Bachman Books is made up of the following stories:
Rage (1977) - A high school student takes his classmates hostage but, as the day unfolds, the lines between captor and captive steadily become blurred as long-hidden secrets are revealed.
The Long Walk (1979) - Under a fascist government run by a shadowy yet charismatic military man, America's national sport is no longer baseball but a walkathon where the prize may well be beyond the competitors' reach.
Roadwork (1981) - When a nearby highway extension threatens an ordinary man's home--along with his whole life--he must make a choice whether to leave everything behind...or stand his ground, whatever the cost.
The Running Man (1982) - In an America where a monolithic television network rules, a desperate man enters a high-stakes game show for the sake of his family's survival.
It must be noted that Stephen King himself asked his publishers to pull
Rage off the market in 1997 after it was associated with a number of school shootings. King's simple comment on the decision:
"Now out of print, and a good thing."Here is the freshly-tested download link:
