Kotaku is reporting that Xbox One will remove the DRM policy on the XBbone

Here's a list of what they're changing:

No more always online requirement
The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
Authentication is no longer necessary
An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped

Looks like we have an 8th gen console war after all.

Anyway this apology on the Xbox One website was written by the asshole Don Mattrick himself. Maybe Steve Ballmer touched him thru the cloud or something.

All MS needs to do at this point to win me over is to make a model without Kinect. Price it about $350 and I'll be happy to play Halo 5 on their console.

Yup, but PS+ has the added value of giving you free games (you have access to free games as long as you are a PS+ subscriber) and discounts to digital downloads which ranges from 10% to 75%(discounted digital downloads are yours even if you do not renew your PS+ subscription) for quite a long time now, Xbox Live Gold has a better online experience as of now. Starting July though Xbox Live will be offering 2 free games every month for gold subscribers and an important thing to note is they said those game will be yours "for keeps". It is not yet clarified if "for keeps" means they are yours even if you do not renew your gold subscription.

Free to play online games, Hulu Plus and Netflix though will not require a PS+ subscription. Also, PS+ has an instant game collection which includes 12 PS3 games and 6 PS Vita games.

That's the thing I like about the PS network, You don't need a paid subscription to access Netflix and Hulu Plus. On Xbox Live you need a Gold subscription to access those streaming apps. And mind you, even YouTube needs a Gold subscription

I can actually see them doing this but not in 2 or 3 months of the console being released. Maybe in 5-7 years, or near the end of life for the product. By that time most of the content will be digital.

Anyway in according to an ex-Epic Games developer, it wasn't our bitching on the internet that changed MS' mind. It was Sony. Damn. I'm still waiting for them to announce that Kinect won't be necessary. If not then PS4 all the way for me.
