TCL making a 50" 4K Ultra HDTV for $999
« on: July 25, 2013, 10:30:44 pm »

so 3D died(a quick and painfull death) and now the new technology rising in HDTVs is the 4K Ultra HDs that ko beyond 1080p resolution to about 3,840 x 2,160 but there's 1 catch... THEY FUQING EXPENSIVE, the cheapest t be released in the market it the 32" UHD from ASUS at $3,500... with that much money one can buy a very good 50+" 1080p 240hz HDTV

but luckily TCL comes to save us all with them cheapa$$ HDTVs and giving us a 50" UHD for the bargain price of $999 which is ah hell of a far cry from $3,500

If you're yearning for a super high res HDTV and the usual suspects' products are just a bit too pricey, there's a new challenger about to join: China's TCL. Its fall lineup of televisions leads with a 50-inch 4K model (shown above) due in September priced at just $999. It joins Seiki as a Chinese manufacturer bringing budget priced Ultra HD panels to the US with this 120Hz edge lit LED model that packs 4 HDMI inputs with MHL support. If the 7E504D's 3,840 x 2,160 resolution screen isn't a must-have for you, it does have some more traditional HDTVs on the way in the form of its 5510 series.

They include 40-, 46- and 55-inch 1080p models, priced at $399, $499 and $799, respectively. The largest one includes built-in WiFi with Smart TV features including Netflix, YouTube and Yahoo Apps, and all go on sale in August. So far, reviews of the Seiki UHDTVs have suggested resolution isn't everything even at these prices (and especially at this screen size) -- we'll be waiting to see if TCL's scaling, contrast, motion processing and other qualities can match up with the big guys.

3DTV died?  OUCH, a feature of a purchase just became useless all of a sudden!!!  anyways, been a year or so with me, so no worries.

that HDTV looks interesting.  and how much would that be pegged at if it reaches our shores?  pa-package kaya pwede ito?

Not to undermine TCL's rep in the electronics industry, i don't think its worth it. I'd still go with the 1080p 240Hz Hdtv any day, considering the fact na wala pa namang cable provider dito sa pinas na nag-oofer ng UltraHD signal. Plus, i think Blu-ray movies are formatted with the 1080p reso, so useless pa rin ang UltraHD. Anyways, im still looking forward to a positive future.

3D is not dead... In fact most of the high end manufacturer like Sony, they integrated 3D on their new 4K Ultra HDTV.

I saw the quality of TCL, very much behind compare to Sony's quality.

3D DIED, the feature may still have been put on TVs but Cable/Satellite 3D service like ESPN and others were KILLED off with the lack of interest for 3D, and notice not a lot of movies are being filmed in 3D and shown in iMax compared to the past 2 years

$4999 vs $999

and LOCAL TCL HDTVs are a far cry from the newer models they displayed in CES 2013

I don't think so. Still a lot of movies are in 3D. Maybe in Phillipines the 3DHTV is dead because it is expensive. But not in North America and Europe countries.

people in the US would rather buy a 60" Non-3D tv for the same price of a 40" 3D TV

Maybe they can't perfect their 3d feature  ::pampam

Unlike Sony, even their brand new model comes with 3D feature, the 4k Ultra HDTV. Compare to other brands, Samsung, Toshiba, LG and Panasonic, they don't have fine quality of 3D. Last year, I auditioned Sony vs. Samsung vs. Panasonic and for me Sony won that's why i bought my Bravia HX-929 model. This model is perfect for blu-ray 3D movies; most of my movies are in Blu-ray 3D. Even cinemas here in Canada still showing movies in 3D.

ESPN suspended their 3D programming because not all their consumers have 3D TV.  music::
