Aint It Cool News was tipped off to a possible Mobile Suit Gundam movie that is in the works. Here's what they had to say:
"I'm one of the advisors for the italian scripts of the cult anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam". Last week my pals and I had a meeting with Mobile Suit Gundam's Creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. Tomino was in Italy as supervisor of the italian adaptation work for "Z Gundam", that is scheduled to be broadcasted within the begin of 2005. We got the chance to make a few answers, and one of my pals asked if Tomino liked "G-Saviour" (2000), a Gundam-based TV Movie. Tomini replied he was not involved in "G-Saviour" and infact he didn't like the flick, but -thak god!- a Hollywood Major (he didn't let us know wich one) is currently developing a project for a big Gundam movie strongly based on the first series. He didn't say anithing else, except that the movie will be produced by "a big Hollywood studio in association with Bandai and Sunrise" (owners of Gundam image rights and producers of the anime series). No word about possible director or cast."
I love the anime and have built a few of the models - so if this news is true, that would be awesome! Now I wonder what "Big Hollywood Studio" is developing this film, could it be Sony/Columbia TriStar? Thats' my guess, but we'll have to wait and see.
