: Nine Years
: BlueAlphaZero May 04, 2009, 07:41:18 AM
Nine years can all fit
into four cardboard boxes,
two plastic bins, and a
backpack

I never knew that nine
years could be as little
as that

Nine years, all summed up
in a handful of letters
written in joy and to be
re-read in solitude

I never knew nine years
spoken from the heart could be
as meaningless as silence

Nine years measured by
a broken timepiece, hands frozen,
held up in surrender forever

I never knew nine years would
freeze like ice and numb a
heart with cold

Nine years all crumble to dust
When the heart must choose
between Truth and Love

I never knew nine years could
be wrapped around an illusion
empty and fleeting

Can the heart still beat
now that nine years is
done?

Can the heart still heal
when nine years was
all lost?

And can the heart still believe
when nine years was all
a lie?
