The
Lancia Stratos wasn't the only car that seemed to have an unearthly visual design. Japan's
DOME Co. Ltd. came up with an idea for an automobile that could compete at the 24 Hours Of Le Mans endurance race. The
Dome Zero or
Dome 0 was just as unique as the Stratos and received plenty of interest when the prototype was unveiled in 1978. A year later, DOME introduced the
Zero P2, which was meant for the international market. Unfortunately, due to various reasons--mainly a lack of funds for continued development and a last-place finish in the 1980 Le Mans race--DOME eventually scrapped the Zero project entirely.
