I dont understand but, why japeth wasn't used much? 4th quarter na nung pinasok <4 mins na lang? I have not heard/seen any injury report against him, but whatever the reason behind it, i think he could have contributed in terms of rebounding and blocks as well... IMHO.

I would really hope Gilas would succeed. But I think, even placing third would be a hard task. Two things have been hounding RP basketball for decades: HEIGHT, and our inability to play an International-style of basketball. The sad truth is that the latter can be fixed. I don't know about genetics. laffman::
There's no question about our skills. Even two decades ago, when the only worries were China & Korea, it was so obvious that we have NBA type moves. And that was the time when Chinese were not yet in the NBA. But that ends there. Is was. and never is, a question of SKILLS.
We have tried an All Filipino PBA stars (Jaworski-coached), a Fil-Am loaded PBA squad (the Racela incedent), and then the GILAS. Which was patterned from the Ron Jacobs winning amateur squad. A foreign coach with a Naturalized import.

My point is, What's next? ??? ???

That's harsh!
I wouldn't say that let's just forget all about basketball. It is still our most favorite sport. I just don't like the attitude that it's okay to lose, and just hope for the best next time.
I would encourage parents to let their kids explore different sports. Soccer, baseball, tennis,etc.. And it wouldn't hurt that the sporting community would not focus on a losing cause, in Basketball.
Even our idols in the NBA played different sports when they were kids. Pinoys just play basketball. That's it.
As for the current basketball situation. I think it's fair to suggest that we should play FIBA international rules in every level. Be it high school,UAAP/NCAA,PBL, & PBA. Let's forget the NBA dream. Let's dream for an Olympic berth first. It will not solve all our problems, but it will sure improve our chances in FIBA tournaments.
I'm not in favor of hiring foreign coaches. I loved what Jawo did before, or Yeng Guiao, or Chot Reyes. Just play with FIBA rules, and we'll not be needing a training pool like Gilas.
And only God can help us with the height disadvantage!  ::lmao

At minsan gumamit pa si Toroman ng 3 point guard line-up, against China, ganyan gamitin mo? Sa ibang team siguro pwede ganung 3 guard set-up. At isa pa, pwede nga pagsabayin si Williams at deOcampo with Douthit para at least di ganun kalaki lamang China sa frontline. May Taulava at Aguilar pa naman if ever may nafoul trouble.

Ever heard of indoor soccer (futbol sala) ???  Even in some poor countries, kids play football/soccer everywhere. On the streets, ricefields, indoors, and even Basketball Courts! It is not the most popular sport in the world for nothing. I don't expect Filipinos to give up basketball for this sport. But a little knowledge helps.  ;D
Sabi nga, there's no harm in trying. And I hope kids would have an open mind about OTHER sports. Not just basketball.
