since year 2000, Filipinos are being hired here in this part of canada by companies for their competence, knowledge/knowhow/experience in the said field, and good English (hehehe! galing daw tayo mag-English, ala daw communication barrier). this has continued on till the present. direct hiring yan from the said companies wherein they help you acquire your work permit/visa in about 1-3mos after getting the formal job offer. after getting here, one can then apply for an immigrant visa in six months or possibly bring his/her family here on a work permit also (mas mabilis ito).
but lately, ive heard that POEA is now requiring that all Filipinos getting hired by these companies go through "agencies" otherwise they dont get out of the country. and these agencies are said to be asking for 300000 pesos for services. services would include daw guaranteed job, work visa, etc.
i think this SUCKS!!! in the first place, these Filipinos and their respective employers were the ones who found each other in the net. and they manage to get out of the country hassle-free at pagdating dito, ok naman lahat so far. sa totoo lang, sa lahat ng pinoy na andito, kahit malamig, wala akong nakita na pumangit ang buhay. lahat eh, paganda ng paganda.
if POEA's reason for this is to prevent brain drain in the philippines, wala, i still think they have no right to do this! they dont have the right prevent other filipinos from achieving their goal! any comments?
