"Excellent" is relative and subjective. It can be "excellent" in the pieces of hardware or "excellent" in the sound. I don't think you can afford a P2M peso set up so you may just have to tell us here how much can you really "throw" to put up something that can be "nice" for music, movies and gaming. Dahil 5.1 pa rin ang concept mo so I guess, you just go for those integrated setup meaning, magkasama na ang pre-amp at amp. You can buy the combo setup of either Denon or Yamaha. Actually, tatlo lang "consumer" brand ng integrated amplifier and medyo maganda ang tunog which is either Nakamichi, Denon or Luxman. Onkyo and Yamaha are good alternatives also. If possible, hanapin mo yun may nakalagay na THX-certified.
Remember na dapat ang wattage ng system mo should be 8ohms so lahat ng hardware mo should match na 8ohms. Don't ever match an 8ohm amplifier to a 2ohm or 4ohm speaker system. Yun Bose speakers eh maganda lang tingnan pero almost all of them are just 4ohms at two-way pa so yun power na gusto mo mapakinggan ay di lumalabas. Then, get your front speakers na at least three-way meaning you can hear the mid-range, tweeter and bass clearly. Your front and back speakers can be two-way na para makatipid ka. Samahan mo ng sub-woofer na at least kaya ang 10khz na frequency range. For your room or a big sala, a 100watts power (RMS yata ang tawag nila) should be good enough. By the way, don't forget to use cabling that match the amplifier and speakers. Better yun gold ang jack. Wag kang magtipid sa cabling kasi pag yun manipis ang binili mo, yun sound or picture bytes na mag flow will be constricted so di maganda ang video or audio. Get a Denon DVD player at wag yun mga mumurahin lang. Avoid those klang-klang sounds (eg. Xenon, Pioneer) masquerading as "home theater" peddled at those appliance stores but go instead to those specialty shops that deals only with audio.
Punta ka sa 5/F ng Shangrila Mall and there are guys there in three shops that can give you a lot of advice. Punta ka sa mga listening rooms nila and ask them na patugtugin yun speaker at amplifier and judge for yourself muna before buying anything. Pag pupunta ka dun, pormang simple lang pero with full self confidence na tipong bibili talaga para they give you full attention. Tapos, ask them for a quotation and then, get the specs of the system and try mo compare sa prices sa Raon. Note na may mga shops sa Raon, Quaipo that they carry similar hardware na malaki ang diperensya ng presyo.
